George Potts & Gordon Titcomb

Tonight the JCC in Sherman welcomes George Potts and Gordon Titcomb, two veterans of our local music scene.  Locally, both George & Gordon have participated in a wide range of music settings with multiple musical partners and ensembles.  This evening they are getting together to celebrate the release of George’s CD , "Ends and Odds”, and to continue their free-flowing musical conversation - one that goes back over 15 years.  The song may be one of George’s originals, an old country music chestnut, or an old rock ’n roll instrumental - the musical canvas is always unique when these two get together.

GEORGE POTTS' tenor voice and finger-picked guitar playing has been heard throughout Northwestern Connecticut for over 40 years.  A lover of many types of music, he cut his teeth in the early 1970's Chicago music scene as founding member of the eclectic folk/jazz ensemble, REDWOOD LANDING.  After moving to Kent, CT in 1976, he played bass with his father-in-law, the noted pianist Dolph Traymon, at the FIFE 'N DRUM (www.fifendrum.com), as well as singing Tenor for The Kent Singers.  For the past 25 years he has performed locally as a member of the NWCT Americana quartet, the JOINT CHIEFS (www.jointchiefsmusic.com), as a bassist accompanying singer WANDA HOUSTON (www.wandaworld.biz), in addition to occasional gigs as a solo singer/songwriter/guitarist at the Fife’n Drum.

George’s brand new cd is his very first as a solo artist.  It includes a wide variety of songs George wrote & recorded at home during COVID, and was mixed & mastered with On Deck Sound Studio’s TRACY WALTON (www.ondecksound.com).
