Please join us on Saturday September 30th at 7pm as we welcome RED DIRT ROAD to the JCC in Sherman! Red Dirt Road will entertain you with their Americana / Western Swing & Red Dirt Music.
Doug Mathewson started Red Dirt Road in 2006 and had gigs at the Towne Crier as well as local events. He was invited and performed 4 times at the yearly North Texas Songwriters Festival. The Red Dirt Road band all met at the Sherman Song Swap!
First, Susanna Marker, Pat Walker and Doug. Then they added Bill Petkanas and Missy Alexander. After that - Pete Nelson, Marty Finch and Nancy Janutolo.
This is a truly a local ground roots band and we are thrilled to have them perform here at the JCCS! Red Dirt Road performs original Americana music and a few covers.
History:
Red Dirt Road was formed shortly after Susy, Pat and Doug met at the Sherman Song Swap. They had similar musical tastes and loved singing together. Soon songs took on arrangements and the group started singing in local venues.
Susy Marker's strong vocal is backed up by her fiddle. Pat Walker directs the vocal harmonies and supplies her southern charm with vocals and banjo. Missy Alexander, songwriter and vocalist. Doug Mathewson on vocals, dobro, mandolin and guitar. Bill Petkanas on guitar and mandolin. Peter Nelson on bass. Songwriters Doug Mathewson, Susy Marker, Peter Nelson and Missy Alexander provide the repertoire.
