"Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Jewish Liturgical Music"
Rabbi/Cantor Jon Haddon is currently the Rabbi of Congregation Beth David in Amenia, New York and Rabbi Emeritus of Temple Shir Shalom of Ridgefield, Ct. He is ordained both as a Rabbi and a Cantor, having graduated from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. He is also a graduate of the University of Illinois, having received a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education. Currently, Rabbi Haddon is a sought out lecturer on a myriad of topics, but always loves his "eishet n'urai"...the love of his youth, Jewish Music. He is also an on call Chaplain for the Ridgefield Police Department, Regional Hospice and Danbury Hospital.
In this lecture, Rabbi Haddon will demonstrate the various systems of chanting the books from the Bible, cantorial music from Eastern and Western Europe, and modern folk rock settings as well. As March 30 is just a few weeks before Passover, we will also sing some of the wonderful music of the Haggadah.
