Join us on Saturday February 11th at 7:00pm for an exciting evening of music featuring The Hooligans with special guest Rory Gordon. They will perform their great music plus some of The Beatles favorites!
The Hooligans Hail from Sherman, CT. They are three Sherman residents and one New Yorker. They've all had individual solo and group projects over the years and really enjoy getting together to play locally!
The Hooligan's are Sherman's own: Bob O'Connor: guitar and vocals, Don Lowe: Guitar and vocals' John Langworthy: Bass and vocals and from NY, Bobby Max Bauer: percussion and vocals. The Hooligan's share their eclectic backgrounds, mixing in a tasty variety of classic rock, rockabilly, country and pop!
Bob O'Connor is a 30 year resident of Sherman, as he labels "the greatest town in the world" His love of music began at an early age; three older brothers played guitar and the house was filled with the sounds of The Beatles, Rolling Stones and many other great artists from the 1960's and 70's. There was also plenty of Irish music and a lot of Frank Sinatra as well.
Bob has played at the Sherman Chamber Ensemble's Coffeehouse and Bluegrass concerts for the past 20 years! He has also played many functions at the Lake Mauweehoo Club, in Sherman. In his non musical hours, Bob works in advertising sales for Compass Media Networks. He very much looks forward to retiring in a few years, when he can play guitar and listen to music 24/7!
Don Lowe has been featured in venues of all types across the eastern corridor, (NY, CT, NJ, MA) and has opened for national acts such as: Tom Rush, The Little River Band, Livingston Taylor, Steve Forbert, Kenny White, Toby Walker, Tim Grimm, Danielle Miraglia, David Jacobs-Strain, Johnny A and the Dana Fuchs Band, among many others.His brand of Americana music explores life with songs that are in turns witty, arcane, sad and sometimes, downright silly. Don was Open Mic Host for the venerable Towne Crier Cafe for 8 years. For 3 fun years, he and friend Steve Kirkman hosted a radio program called Local Heroes that featured area local singer/ songwriters. Don's second CD, Out Here, was released in September 2014 and his first release, Dogs, Clowns and Belles came out in 2011. His third CD is set for release in February, 2022. Don is originally from McHenry, ND and currently lives in Sherman, CT where he is the towns First Selectman (Mayor).
John Langworthy and Bobby Max Bauer both came from musical families in Mahopac, NY. By 1987, they were already playing the local club scene in NYC and Westchester county. John was playing in a contemporary 80's band called Neighborhood Watch and Bobby in a band called Point 5. Their paths crossed at a local summer party in 1990, A musical friendship was launched!
They formed two bands in the 1990's, Landslide in 1991 and The Free Radicals in 1995. The Free Radicals were a cutting edge 90's rock band, they enjoyed a great club following and caught the eye of actor Timothy Hutton, for whom they played several private parties. In 2000 John and Bobby hooked up with Jimmy Ekizian, the gifted singer, horn player for the Fabulous Hey Baby Band out of Westchester. With a reincarnation of The Hey Baby Band, they have played countless clubs, festivals, weddings and concerts in NY and throughout New England. Currently John and Bobby have a side project with Hey Baby's Jimmy Ekizian, called the "Clams". Besides local gigs, they have a revolving schedule at Catamount Ski Resort.
Singer songwriter Rory Gordon hails from Stamford, CT. His lifelong passion for guitar started at age six and continues to this day. Rory's band Breakaway, served as Davy Jones back and road band in the 1990's.
Besides being a session player, Rory currently plays with several bands, including The Hey Baby Band, The Newcomers, 3 Car Garage, Mike Milazzo and Broken Arrow, The Clams and Cooked Up. Rory's eclectic range spans from the Beatles, Stones, Van Morrison, Chicago, Santana, Allman Bros,to the greats of R & B such as Wilson Pickett, and Otis Redding.
Rory has performed nationally with such artists as: Davy Jones and Mickey Dolenz of the Monkees, Gary US Bonds, The Coasters, The Crystals, and Gene Chandler, among others on stage, TV and live radio.
